Shockingly Leicester City attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has been rated high by The Foxes’ manager, Claude Puel, who believes thew Super Eagles star can take on defenders, has good runs in front of goal and creates space for his fellow-attackers to make hay.
Puel, though, reckoned that Iheanacho has not been able to make a huge individual impact nor hit a haul of goals because he is not receiving adequate passes from his pals, footballlive.ng reports.
Iheanacho has struggled in front of goal since arriving from Manchester City striker, with his form this season with club and country coming under even more intense scrutiny.
He has only managed just a goal in 16 league games for The Foxes, who are 11th in the English top-flight table, and his only goal this season was in Leicester’s 3-1 defeat of Huddersfield Town back in September.
On Saturday, he was introduced as a second-half substitute for Demarai Gray, but Iheanacho could not save his side from losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace.
However, despite Iheanacho’s poor scoring form, Puel has defended the attacker by calling for improvement from his midfielders.
Puel stated: “I think in his last game Iheanacho was available between defenders a lot and he made many good runs behind the opponents’ line without receiving good service.
“We need to improve our play between the attacking players and the midfield, to give a good pass in the right moment.
“For an attacking player or striker, they need good service. We can improve in this and we have progress to make.”
Do you agree with Claude Puel on Iheanacho’s rating?
