2020 is one of the years I waited for with so much anticipation to delve into and explore all that God has said to me concerning it.
It was exciting walking into it and through it. While in the second month, there was news everywhere about the deadly disease that ravaged China called Coronavirus. Nigerians and other countries now gave so much attention to personal hygiene to avert the spread. I never allowed myself to be disturbed by the news, I only tried my best to maintain a high level of personal hygiene. The news kept on spreading and information was given in numbers, of people and the countries that were contracting the disease.
Finally Coronavirus was confirmed in Nigeria. At this time I was in a place far from home. And I was at work in a school as a teacher. There was an instruction from the government to close down schools and other government parastatals. I didn’t want this at all as I am not used to staying idle, idleness makes me sick.
I thought to myself, this would only last for a month and by the following month we would be back to our normal life. We spent 2 straight months and my expectations were cut short as Coronavirus kept spreading into states at an increasing rate. Day after day the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) kept bringing to our notice the states that were infected.
The whole news got me bored. I wished it could be in my powers to halt the world’s current situation. My friends were travelling home, I thought I should too but before I concluded plans the borders to my home were closed, God damn it! I was trapped, like how on earth was I going to cope with staying alone for as long as the corona era lasted?
Weeks later, I decided to take a different posture to absorb Covid-19 era. I must say I’ve been blessed immensely. During the lockdown/ stay-at-home period, I was able to reestablish my relationship with God, I was able to find my purpose and rediscover myself. I took different courses online, those that were free and paid. I developed myself and find a deeper inspiration to my existence.
Thankfully, I can say 2020 has been beautiful despite the spread of Coronavirus, the fun part is I have a story to tell my unborn generation
