Hey! My name’s Ohalete Emmanuel.. I’m a writer, I know I’m suppose to be writing a story but hey, how about a real life story?.. well, here’s one.
On the 31st January, 2020. Coranavirus was declared global health emergency by WHO, as a result so many health centers began to focus all it’s resources on COVID 19 patients, unknowingly/knowingly neglecting many other major health cases
Here’s an interview from YouTube with Cheyenne who has been diagnosed with severe cancer.
Cheyenne, diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma,
Cheyenne’s mom- “Cheyenne has always loved playing in the mountains and doing the outdoor stuffs, she loves to read so we read to each other all the time… it was a severely life threatening condition… so it was very fast.. her trike was in such a precarious state.. when they said it was a 2 year treatment plan, what that means is if you can go two years straight through of Chemo, you’ll be done in two years what we’ve learned is *Cheyenne’s dad “that nobody can go two years through”… the resilience of Cheyenne through all of these has been amazing but the hardest part is all the other stuffs, you know it’s 16 different kinds of chemo, it’s steroids, it’s side effects from all of that, plus, side effects from the medicines to take the side effects off.”
Cheyenne’s Dad- “there’s nothing more important than funding the research just help her and to help all the other kids that.. ahh… don’t know it yet but will have to face that challenge.”
Cheyenne – “I like to do crafts and other.. like fun games with my brother. I never really remember getting told “Cheyenne you have cancer” I just could feel inside me that it wasn’t right. I got on the helicopter said goodbye and that was that, the next step was to get me Chemo, immediately.
I want to be a pediatrist and help kids that have gone through what I’ve gone through”
There’re soo many other children like Cheyenne going the same challenges or even worse…. now that all attentions are focused on COVID 19 patients… the lesser attention/care this children gets the lesser their chances at survival gets.. we need to spread awareness on this issue
