It is customary in almost every high institutions in Nigeria to have officially an accommodating homestead to satisfy students convenience. Entrepreneurs and great business men also sees it as a fecund investment raising infrastructures to house students for personal interest.
Elementary political science made us understand the selflessness and the selfishness of government and sole proprietors respectively.
The argument on the most conducive environment among school hostels and off campus lodges has never ended in the lips of undergraduates. Downing the line to Abia state university, the school management has painstakingly geared efforts in a bid to make students understand the selfishness of lodge owners around the school vicinity, how they don’t care about their security, wellbeing and the likes.
Over years now, horrendous events has always besieged students staying off the school hostels. This has however explained the altruism behind the school management’s warnings.
The pictures below are is the deadly condition of the road leading to the most expensive off campus lodges in Abia state university.
Namely: Angels Lodge, Victoria Lodge, Uloma Lodge (A,B and C owned by Prof Innoh Eke), Aries lodge(owned by Sen. Mao Ohunbuwa, Nmesoma lodge, Eagles square lodge, Cowbell Lodge, Adonai Lodge, Nature Valley lodge(A, B, C, Plus Kings), Christen Lodge, Ivory Tower lodge, to mention but few.
To the best of notice, these lodges are exorbitant and often times extreme for students financial convenience. On most occasions students have been seen heartlessly thrown out of their apartment due to incompetence in financial meet ups.
Regardless of the millions these lodge owners accumulate annually. They have chosen to act nonchalant, indifferent towards this bad conditioned road that leads to their multi- million investment.
It is to be recounted that this road has severally caused accident that has ghastly inflicted expensive-to-be-treated wounds to our God’s own students.
Speaking to Chioma Ejike an occupant of Uloma Lodge, she maintained that the selfishness of lodge owners around that area is second to none, that it won’t cause them anything to fix that road, but they keep amassing money and placing students life at peril.
Mr Madumere a motorist also lamented that, it has been difficult for bike riders to maneuver that particular place, as it takes so much care and expertise, so they won’t injure the students.
He had also made me understand that it would also hit into consideration hiking the price of taking students to lodges around that environment.
Up to the time of this article, the condition of that environment, (T junction beside Angels lodge) has not been fixed and grows detrimental daily.
The students community, to this notice plead on the vice chancellor, to raise sanctions against those lodge owners, to see them incline ear to the cry of the students supplication.
