A Nigeria where we all can live peaceful in one area is all I want.
We’ve fought through so much, both with our arms and intellect to get to where we are. About 58 years ago, our stories were centered on the British ideologies, our thoughts were entangled in the web of colonialism and slavery. We never had an independent constitution to govern our actions.
Speaking of rights to vote and be voted was nothing but a mirage.
This epoch of development we’ve attained should be appreciated by all and sundry.
I was with an Igbo man last week in one of the trading centres in Lagos state, after some interactions with him, I jokingly inflicted that :
” Nigeria has really made you rich, look at how much you make in a day”
He began to rain curses on the land that gave him shelter, the land that gave him hope, freedom and identity.
He laid emphasis on the ignominious leaders and their dubious instincts.
I raised only a question which kept him bewildered. And I’m putting it to you all today.
Haven’t you for one day, as a business man added 10naira to the cost price of your commodity, all in the name of gain?
Haven’t you as a civil servant been irregular in discharging your duty?
Haven’t you as a sales girl or boy cheated your madam/Oga while he was away from shop?
Haven’t you as a child stolen meat from your mother’s pot while she was away?
Haven’t you as a pastor extorted money from your members, with the lie that Christ demanded for it?
And you as a priest, haven’t you for one day fornicated and yet you kept a vow of celibacy?
The corrupt situation we face is a situation of Pari delicto.
We are all equally guilty.
For Nigeria to be better, let’s make changes in our little community, we’ll be amazed how it will affect the entire territory
Nigeria politics has been associated with all sort of devilry nomenclatures, by some set of persons who have refused to get involved in politics.
Those who are indifferent to power, will be overtaken by power seekers. In any community where the wise are indifferent to power, they’ll surely be overruled by fools.
If politics is dirty, be the deter agent. This Nigeria will never get better without you.
Struggle for independence was never a lone duty, Zik, Sir Abubakar and the likes fought immensely for the glorification of this day.
Let’s rise today, renew the oath, do not let the pains of past heroes be in vain, keep up the struggle against all huddles.
Let’s see development as a circumstance that will be prompted out from within our territory and not look stray without.
The men we look up to were here before and did no good than to buckle our ideas in chains.
Help develop Nigeria.
Be the change you want to see.
Now get up, get to work, let’s make Nigeria great again.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
