In the life of every achiever, there are usually two outstanding seasons: the first season is usually that of work, work and work. The other season that follows is usually that of recognitions, awards and rewards.
For such great men and women, it might take years of hard work, unalloyed dedication to duty, unparalleled sacrifice for a cause they believe in and an unstoppable drive to lift their people from the doldrums and opprobrium to irreversible stardom, to keep working, sometimes with much fanfare while others may work their socks off silently, unnoticed, and steadily but surely until they achieve their ultimate goal.
For the latter, except they have grown the needed thick skin to wade off spanners and cogs that would surely be thrown their way by impatient armchair critics and professional detractors they would derail in no time.
Having said that, one can comfortably say without doubt, that Gov. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, a thorough bred and research driven academic with enviable pedigrees, has grown the needed thick skin that has in return placed Abia on the road of excellence.
Today, the story of Abia is different from what it used to be. The Dying Aba (Enyimba City) has been recovered. Commerce, Trade, Industry and Agriculture which are predominately the identity of Abians have been revived. Abia today is being recognized as the center of SMES in Nigeria. Our locally made in Aba products now compete favourably with its foreign counterpart across the globe.
Our Educational system have improved though a lot needs to be done. Road construction and re-construction and other Infrastructural development have taken its pride of place. Security, Health and Power sectors are receiving necessary attention. The Elderly, Youths and Children are not left out in Governor Ikpeazu’s agenda, as empowerment & skill acquisition programs, school feeding program, care for the elderly program respectively are on course. All to the credit of Governor Ikpeazu devoted leadership.
No wonder the Authority and Vanguard newspapers, conferred on this Scholar in Governance, the 2017 governor of the year award respectively.
Similarly, His laudable policies, actions and unwavering support to Abia State University since his assumption of office, has inspired the Vice-Chancellor Abia State University,Professor E. Uche Ikonne and the entire university community to script a book in honour of this Governor , whose humility can only be equated to that of the biblical carpenter of Nazareth; A creative thinker; The doer of deeds; A foresighted seer, who made us believe that nothing is ever beyond our reach ; A man whose journey to apex seat of Abia State, replicates the biblical psalms 113:7; A victor who wins the night and still conquers the day; A man whose steadfastness to service is unmatched; A renowned and remarkable scholar of our time, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D.
Come Monday, August 6th 2018, all roads will be leading to the International Conference Center Umuahia, Abia State, for the presentation of this book titled, “The Scholar in Governance- A Kaleidoscope on Okezie Victor Chibuikem Ikpeazu, Ph.D.

It is a research text of scholars in the academic community of Abia State University, who have watched with unalloyed excitement, the success stories of an academic giant and colleague in the field of politics.
Significantly this book will also serve as an illustration of scholarship in governance by a detribalized Nigerian, a visionary leader who has successfully combined the rich content of academics with the intricacies of politics in terms of sincerity to election promises and prudence in fiscal conduct.
The research-oriented Governor, has directed that all proceeds of this presentation will assist him to build and equip a Post Graduate Research Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry, Abia State University.
