Ex-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chris Giwa, has declared his intention to contest for the Plateau north Senatorial seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Giwa made known his intention when he visited state officials of the party at its secretariat on Wednesday, September 19, in Jos.
His decision to contest was borne out of his desire to give the people of the zone a voice and to support the PDP to reclaim power at all levels in the state.
“I am not contesting because I am hungry, but my mission in 2019 is to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lose in my zone and the state in general,” he said.
On whether he would dump the party, Giwa assured that he would remain and work for the party even if he failed to secure the senate ticket, adding that the interest of the party was above personal interests.
“I don’t see my fellow aspirants as enemies. I see them as brothers and partners in progress. We are all aspiring because we want PDP to take over power in 2019.
“So, the outcome of the primaries does not really matter to me. I assure you that I will not leave the party even if I lose at the primaries,” he added.
